Dr. Katherine Witmeyer obtained her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry, graduating with honors. Following graduation, Dr. Witmeyer completed an advanced residency program in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Center for the Partially Sighted in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Witmeyer is a therapeutic optometrist, fully licensed to treat many eye diseases & conditions, as well as addressing patient’s visual needs with glasses, contact lenses, low vision and post-operative eye care. Dr. Witmeyer has practiced in a range of clinical environments including multi-disciplinary group ophthalmology practice, the Veteran’s Administration (VA) hospitals, non-profit, specialized optometry. She owned and operated a successful full-scope optometry private practice in Carlsbad for 13 years. Dr. Witmeyer treats all of her patients like family while aiming to offer the best solutions for their eye care and visual needs.
 
Dr. Witmeyer is active in her local and state optometric organizations, serving on the San Diego County Optometric Society’s (SDCOS) Executive Board for several years, including as President of SDCOS in 2011. She was awarded both the prestigious California Optometric Association’s (COA) “Young Optometrist of the Year” award and the coveted “Society of the Year” award in 2011. Dr. Witmeyer is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.

Dr. Witmeyer enjoys live music, musical theater, and traveling the world while having fun and amazing experiences with her husband Lance, her two children – Samantha and Matthew, and the rest of her friends and family!
